The purpose of Friends of Peterborough Recreation Projects is to raise and appropriate funds through community involvement and fundraising for projects associated with facilities and programming of the Peterborough NH Recreation Department. The corporation is organized exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3).
Renovating the Peterborough Community Center (PCC)
Th PCC is not maintained using Peterborough residents’ tax dollars. While the Town of Peterborough has received a $1 million grant through the Community Center Investment Program (CCIP) to help renovate the PCC, we need to raise an additional $1.5 million to complete the project.
A $40,000 grant awarded to Friends of Peterborough Recreation Projects by M&T Bank’s Amplify Fund is earmarked for HVAC and electrical upgrades not covered by the CCIP grant. We will be actively seeking other grant funding opportunities and donations for lighting, flooring, plumbing, HVAC and other needs.
Work will be performed at the same time and by the same contractor as the fire station construction, beginning April 1, 2025.
It will address the critical building envelope needs of a 75-year old former armory: repairing or replacing the roof, windows, doors, and fire suppression equipment, asbestos remediation, and some interior work.

How is the PCC used?
The Community Center houses a wide variety of community resources and activities including indoor soccer, futsal, pickleball, volleyball, the farmers’ market, the senior program, the food pantry, American Legion meetings, voting, after-school care, train shows and vintage markets, a commercial kitchen, private party rentals, serving as our emergency shelter, and so much more. The PCC is truly a Community Center and is used frequently every day, year ‘round, to bring our community together.
